Mission of GEC Counseling and Guidance Services

The mission of the Goodwill Education Center career and counseling center is to provide opportunities that will assist students in their transition toward becoming responsible, respectful, and successful members of society.  We promote achievement through support in decision making of career and post-secondary educational success.

 

GEC Counseling and Guidance Services will:

  • Serve as a resource to students, parents, staff, administration, and community.

  • Provide group and individual counseling

  • Provide crisis and prevention counseling

  • Provide information and referral services

  • Provide opportunities to all students that will help them meet their potential

  • Provide opportunities for college and career exploration for all students

  • Support and guide students in decision making situations

  • Provide appropriate and relevant scheduling related to a student’s individual needs

     

     

MAJOR FOCUS AREAS OF GEC COUSELING AND GUIDANCE SERVICES

 

 

Academic Counseling and Planning: includes placement into appropriate courses and development of a plan of study

 

Post-secondary Planning: facilitating the preparation and processing of college, employment and/or military service opportunities.

 

Crisis Intervention Services: includes counseling student in crisis (i.e. suicide prevention, child abuse, pregnancy, substance abuse) and providing assessment and referral to related support services as appropriate.
