Independent Study - Traditional

Independent Study is a voluntary program designed to accommodate self-motivated students who desire to do the majority of their academic work at home. The student, parent/guardian, and the teacher sign awritten agreement to complete a contractual amount of work, minimally 30 hours of homework and two credits per week. Students are required toattend school and meet with their teacher once a week. The law stipulates that students must earn credits minimally required at their traditional school. If students do not earn the minimum amount of credits, Ed. Code §11702 does not allow them to remain within the Independent Study Program.
